Gowan Company, LLC, has announced the federal Section 3 registration of Magus miticide for broad-spectrum mite control in greenhouses, field-grown ornamentals and established ornamental plantings.
Powered by the novel active ingredient fenazaquin, Magus offers excellent contact and residual control of most mites commonly found in ornamentals.
"Although fenazaquin is a brand new compound here in the U.S., its been used successfully on a wide range of agricultural and horticultural crops in more than 50 countries worldwide," noted Gowan Product Manager Monica Dominguez. "Magus delivers fast knock-down of spider mites, rust mites, broad mites and all economically important mite pests found in ornamentals, along with excellent residual control. Plus, it comes in a user-friendly suspension concentrate (SC) formulation with a relatively short 12-hour restricted entry interval (REI)."
According to Dominguez, Magus is also the ideal choice for managing mite resistance. The active ingredient, Fenazaquin, belongs to a new class of chemistry not previously available in the U.S. That makes it the perfect foundation for an effective resistance management program," she said.
