ChemChina Joining Hands with Israeli Partner ADAMA Focusing on Cultural Blendqrcode

In the Airport City of Tel Aviv, Israle, the office builidng of ADAMA is featured by Chinese elements---- lanterns, streamers, paintings, calligraphy, tea performance, traditional Chinese costumes and Malan Noodle. This 25th, ChemChina, the Chinese chemical giant hosted China Month here, sharing the remarkable traditional culture of China with its partner, ADAMA.

On the opening ceremony of China Month, Mr. Yang Xingqiang, General Manager of ChemChina commented that China Month, inaugurated at the headquarter of ADAMA, is the first time that ChemChina organizes activities of thematic months in foreign entities. “Today, ChemChina has 10 foreign subsidiaries and half of our employees are foreigners. Therefore, it’s very important to enhance cultural blend and deepen mutual knowledge, understanding and exchanges. This is the purpose of the thematic months,” said him.

Thematic months focusing on a nation are the most popular and attractive cultural activities in ChemChina. There has been Month of Italy, Month of France and this April Month of Israel. It aims at enabling Chinese and foreign employees to better know each other’s history, culture, economy and societies, basing a good foundation for further strengthening the exchanges, integration, synergy and mutual help between Chinese and foreign entities.

Mr. Yang Xingqiang added that China Month will showcase both the 5000-year-old ancient culture and the fruit of mordenization of China so that the viewers can have a close look of China that is ancient but also mordern, combining humanities and nature, inheritance and innovation. 

“Israeli and Chinese cultures share many similarities. Both of us respect history and tradition, highlight education and culutre and are practical and innovative. I believe that the highly fitness of the two cultures will enable a smooth and efficient synergy and integration between us. ”

ChemChina also brought traidtional Chinese food, Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles, all the way here so that Israeli colleagues would have the chance to have a Bite of China. On the opening ceremony, ADAMA staff also tried Chinese black and green tea which was highly recognized. Some put on traditional Chinese costumes and held exquisit fans to take a photo.


In October, 2011, ChemChina acquired 60% equity of ADAMA, the global generic crop protection leader, at 2.4 billion USD. In November, 2016, it acquired the rest 40% equity, thus 100% controlling ADAMA. This transaction enables CNAC, a subsidary of ChemChina to jump to the Top 6 in the global arochemical market and take a leading position in gerenic crop protection sector.

Chen Lichtenstein, President and CEO of ADAMA, appointed in Feburary 2014, commented that ADAMA joined ChemChina and became part of the big family, developing together with ChemChina. Jewish and Chinese cultures share many similarities which strongly enhances integration and development of both parties. Two companies will continue to promote cultural exchanges and blend in the future.

China Month will host series of activities such as lectures to showcase yesterday, today and tomorrow of China to ADAMA employees and display its ancient culture in a multifaceted way.

Currently, the revenue of foreign entities accounts for 67.6% of the total revenue of ChemChina and 1/3 of its employees are foreigners. To enhance integration and development in the process of going global and becoming an international company, ChemChina attaches great importance to cultural blend. In addition to thematic months, ChemChina also organizes thematic salons, study of foreign languages by senior management and VIPs and cross-culture team buildings, etc.

As the 7th agrochemical producer and supplier in the world, ADAMA has presence in over 120 countries and more than 50 subsidiaries in 45 countries. It has 4 headquaters, 5 R&D centers and 8 development and registration centers globally. It has local registration capabilities in over 100 countries, 12 production sites and over 300 AI. ADAMA is alos active in the business of food additives and nutitrion supplements.

Since ADAMA joined ChemChina 6 years ago, it has achieved fast growth with value creation increasing by 1.6 times, EBITDA by 1.15 times and profits by over 2 times. Despite the fact that the global crop protection market continued to be slump in 2016, ADAMA delivered a strong performance, improving the quality and efficiency of its business driven by innovation. In 2016, its sales grew by 6% and net income by 45% YoY, outperforming other multinational peers.

China is the largest agrochemical consumer in the world whose consumption accounts for 1/3 of the world’s total. In June, ChemChina completed the transation of Syngenta, the global largest crop protection supplier and the 3rd seed supplier at 43 billion USD.
