Bayer-Monsanto takeover requests review extension

The company has asked the European Commission to extend its review on its planned takeover.
Bayer officials say it will give them more time to finalize the agreement and makes it easier for an appropriate evaluation given the size of the transaction.
The commission started an in-depth investigation in August, the application this week requests ten more working days, extending the deadline to January 22, 2018.
Company leaders say the deal is still on track to close early next year.
