SY Harnas has again yielded very well this season. In five NIAB TAG variety trials spread across the UK SY Harnas performed consistently and was second only to Campus on the most Northerly site at Croft on Tees at 106%.
High yields come from the varieties growth habit and good disease and lodging resistance. SY Harnas has strong early season hybrid vigour, critical for fast crop establishment and vigourous plant growth to survive pest attack and the weather during the winter period. Rapid spring growth, early flowering and late maturity gives the variety longer post-flowering, when seed number is set, to photosynthesise and increase seed size, in order to build yield. On the 2017/18 Recommended list, SY Harnas has the second highest seed yield of all the varieties recommended for the UK or Northern region at 110% making it an excellent choice for Northern growers this coming season.
