Following a decade of rapid growth, the agricultural software company Agrian has opened a new office in Clovis, Calif., near Fresno, strengthening its platform that serves customers across the agriculture and food value chain in the U.S. and internationally. The 20,000-square foot office is home to Agrian’s staff of more than 80 software developers, regulatory and customer support personnel, and also includes separate and customizable spaces for Agrian customers and other ag and food businesses to hold meetings and training sessions.
The new office represents Agrian’s success in combining the industry’s largest crop protection product label database, consisting of more than 10,000 manufacturer-reviewed labels, with a holistic platform serving the agriculture and food production industry from every angle. The Agrian platform includes innovative, easy-to-use data and information-sharing solutions and is used by 175,000 partners worldwide ranging from ag retailers, crop advisors, growers, food companies and equipment manufacturers.
“Agrian introduced its web-based system in 2004 when cloud based tools in agriculture were the exception, not the rule, as they are today.” said Nish Majarian, CEO of Agrian. “Since then we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the demand for grower data whether from local, state, federal and international regulators, and from retail giants and consumers seeking more transparency on the food we consume. Our goal from day one was to make the time-consuming process of growing food safely, profitably and sustainably easy and affordable for growers in all crops and in all markets. With more than 150,000 growers in the system, and 130,000,000 treated acres documented every year, I am proud of what we have accomplished so far with our partners in the field and look forward to another decade of innovation and growth driven by our partners’ needs.”
At a time when consumers and food retailers are increasingly demanding more information about the way food is grown, the Agrian compliance and reporting system is the only one in the industry that can dynamically and securely share crop data between growers, their advisors and processors and third-party reporting agencies. The Agrian platform integrates logged and wireless data on crop protection, fertility, field mapping and imagery, scouting, nutrient management and much more to create a record for every crop in every market whether it be an organic strawberry crop in California or row crops in central Iowa.
“Our original location in the Central Valley of California allowed us the opportunity to create and test our tools and services on as many as 300 different crops,” added Majarian. “Now we know the model works well, and it is rapidly being adopted across the country and around the world in both specialty and commodity cropping systems. The Agrian platform is now used at 3,000 ag retail locations, by more than 10,700 agronomists, and by 60 of the top food companies. True to our vision, it has made planning, tracking and sharing of information easier along the entire agriculture and food value chain.”
