DPRK researchers develop environment-friendly pesticide

A Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (DPRK) research center had successfully created a bio-agricultural pesticide that didnt harm the environment, the official Rodong Sinmun reported on Thursday.
Rodong Sinmun said avermectin, developed by scientists at the Aeguk Research Center for Compound Microorganisms, had a long-term, strong insecticidal effect, without threatening grains, fruits, vegetables, humans or the environment.
Its efficacy had been proved in several farms, the paper said.
The chemical could be used as a powder, pill and injection, and be applied to public health as well, the newspaper said.
