Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has said Aadhaar cards of farmers will be linked to supply of fertilisers in the State. Participating in a programme organised by the Agriculture Department, in association with Coromandel International Limited, in the city on Thursday, the Minister said the Aadhaar linkage would help streamline the supply of fertilisers to farmers. It would also prevent misuse of fertiliser subsidies.
The Aadhaar linkage for the supply LPG and monthly ration to people has already started yielding good results, he said.
On other initiatives, he said the State government sanctioned `1,680 crore as input subsidy for farmers. About 15 lakh soil health cards have been distributed to farmers, he said. Later, the minister distributed e-PoS machines to fertiliser dealers.
Collector K Sasidhar said there are 2,070 fertiliser dealers in the district. e-PoS machines were distributed to 1,188 dealers. The remaining dealers would get e-PoS machines soon, he said.
MLA M Venugopala Reddy, ZP Chairperson Sk Johny Moon, Coromandel International Limited chairman GV Subba Reddy and Special Commissioner of Agriculture M Hari Jawaharlal were present.
