Imports of the herbicide, 2,4-D, reached nearly 33,800 tons in 2016 in Brazil, including formulated and technical products, according to the data portal Global Agrochemicals.
The months with most volume of imports were July and August, reflecting the equivalent of 10,000 tons of product, and representing nearly 30 percent of imports of this product in 2016.
China was the main country of origin of 2,4-D, accounting for 26 percent (equivalent to 8,700 tons) of total imported products by Brazil. In the second place was Argentina, with nearly 20 percent.
During the first quarter of 2017, over 5,600 tons of the products were imported, which is nearly 11.2 percent down, compared with the same period of 2016. Poland, with approximately 1,600 tons in the first quarter of 2017, was the main country of origin, followed by Austria and Argentina.
