Beijing Mindleader Agricultural Science Ltd, known as a “dark horse” in the industry, achieved sales of ¥170 million in five years’ time since its launch.
The company’s fungicide Mingrunfeng launched in 2016 hit sales of ¥30 million in a single year. Its insecticide Delang was launched across China in 2017 has again attracted close attention from the industry.
Delang contains abamectin 3% + spirotetramat 12% as active ingredients, in the form of suspension concentrate. Spirotetramat is a patented compound of Bayer CropScience, with whom Mindleader signed a strategic cooperation at the end of 2015. Spirotetramat has been sold in recent years for applications to fruit and vegetable planting area, of which applications to pear tree account for as high as 43 percent and the sales growth on pear tree applications is also the fastest, being mainly used for control of pear psylla and the scale insect.
Spirotetramat is so far the sole insecticidal ingredient which can be used inside a plant, to enable it to control the hidden insect. Spirotetramat has a long-lasting effect, but takes effect quite slowly. Thus its efficacy is not visible immediately, and the use of adjuvant is required during the application process to achieve even distribution and adhesion.
Abamectin has a fast-effecting property and good systemic nature. The action mechanism of the two ingredients is different, and reduces the risk to resistance. Its co-toxicity coefficient to insect and mite is high, which generates a significant synergistic effect.
Investigations and surveys show that the sales in retail shops of spirotetramat and abamectin as a package have been accepted by the market. This combination provides both long-lasting and fast-effecting properties. The release of Delang is well adapted to market needs and the use of the product has proved to be easy and safe.
