The ‘Spray Well’ Program, an initiative of Arysta LifeScience in partnership with the Agronomic Institute (IAC), commemorates 10 years of innovations for Brazilian agriculture with over 55,000 farmers trained in the correct use of pesticides on different crops. The program has crossed borders and is held successfully in Colombia, Mexico, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.
The model adopted by the program for training farmers is new in Brazil. ‘Spray Well’ has three Tech Mobiles (itinerant laboratories) that travel throughout the country.
“Instead of taking the farmer to a classroom, we will take a classroom to him. This model not only increases the participation of workers, but also allows for a practice of better fixation of learning,” notes Hamilton Ramos, a researcher at IAC, and a founder and coordinator of the program.
“It is a service provision without costs for the farmer. ‘Spray Well’ takes knowledge to the field, better use of technology and rational use of agrochemicals, contributing to safe food production and quality, optimizing production and shrinking costs, besides bringing more safety for those who spray and reduces the impact on the environment,” notes Liria Hosoe, Registration Manager at Arysta LifeScience.
Another pioneering program introduced by ‘Spray Well’ is the adoption and validation of ISO 16,122 international norms for the evaluation of the quality of sprayers in use in Brazil. The program was the first to adopt ISO standards, which were published in 2015.
“We are proud to hold a program that trained almost 55,000 people in the field. Ten years have passed since its launch and ‘Spray Well’ continues to fulfill a very important role, which is more current than ever. We have worked to make this initiative grow and multiply our partnership with our customers, including globally,” said Fabio Torreta, CEO of Arysta LifeScience in Latin America.
