Bayer has signed a partnership with the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology in the state of São Paulo (IFSP), with the goal of producing research and innovation for the development of new technologies for the farm business.
The Engineering of Biosystems course is offered for free by the institute at its Avaré, São Paulo campus. In order to commemorate this new project, there will be a magna class conducted by the Director of Digital Farming at Bayer, André Salvador, to debate the future of agriculture in the digital field. At the moment, scholars and the company have developed the framework for partnership goals.
Bayer will extend fundamental support for the project, participating actively from the stage of idealization, until the time of approval of the course by the Ministry of Education. “It is gratifying to be able to contribute with the discipline that will give access to a new type of content, with emphasis on research and technological innovation, once the students can adequately deal with the new demands of the agricultural market,” said Salvador.
The course will last five years and after graduation, the professionals will be ready to act in different functions linked to the new technologies for the procedures of agricultural production, fiber, energy, biotechnology and food, among them, the development of companies and the application of concepts of digital agriculture, precision agriculture and automation.
According to the coordinator of research and innovation at the Institute, Newton Pegolo, Engineers in Biosystems is a new profession in Brazil, for which the academic course has been a draw for meeting new technological demands for agriculture.
“This partnership consolidates our efforts to guarantee that professionals fulfill requirements for the job market. Besides, it is the awareness of the goals proposed by the institute for scientific research development, that is, to attend the real technological necessities through applied research, generating practical solutions to the problems and taking it to social and economic development.”
Besides having the honor of sharing these professional experiences, Salvador highlighted the commitments of the company for the development and enhancement of teaching. “The creation of this course is only the beginning; we will continue to invest in the training of professionals, offering technical and conceptual support for the enhancement of education and with possibilities of approaching the academy from the real necessities of farmer in the field,” he concluded.
