Nufarm Limited today announced that Ms Marie McDonald had been appointed a Director of the Company, effective immediately.
Ms McDonald was a senior partner at Ashurst until 2014, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and commercial law. She was widely recognised as one of Australia's leading corporate and commercial lawyers.
Nufarm Chairman Donald McGauchie said the Board would benefit from Ms McDonald's exceptional legal background and long-time interest in science.
"We are very pleased to have attracted a director with Marie's legal and corporate experience. Marie joins Nufarm's board at a time when the company is assessing opportunities for growth including possible acquisitions and in an era when the law has never been more important to the agricultural sector," Mr McGauchie said.
Ms McDonald, who has honours degrees in both law and science, is also a Director of CSL Limited, Nanosonics Limited and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research. She was chair of the Corporations Committee of the Business Law section of the Law Council of Australia from 2012 to 2013, having previously been the Deputy Chair, and was a member of the Australian Takeovers Panel from 2001 to 2010.
