Innovate Ag has just secured an international investment, and the product has just been registered for use for the current cotton season.
Fifteen-years in the making, Sero-X® is a world-first product developed by Wee Waa-based Innovate Ag, in collaboration with major Australian research organisations.
Innovate Ag’s Project Director, Nick Watts, said that this world first bio-insecticide has been discovered and developed in Australia.
“Sero-X® is an economic, nature-driven, form of pest control for the cotton industry and other crops that can help us deliver environmentally sustainable and ethical agriculture,” Mr Watts said.
“It is safe for important insects like bees, giving growers access to an effective, commercial product that can replace those chemicals suspected of causing damage to bees, which are vital to agriculture and whole eco-systems.”
Developed between the private sector and Australian research institutions, and supported by Commercialisation Australia, Sero-X® shows how industry, science and government can work together to deliver innovative outcomes for the agricultural sector and regional communities.
“This is a win for regional Australia as the product will be manufactured in Goondiwindi, Queensland, with the product to be exported to the world from there,” Mr Watts said.
“The company’s head office will remain in Wee Waa, NSW.”
Innovate Ag has recently secured international investment from Belgium based company, Bi- PA.
Mr Watts said that the partnership with Bi-PA will allow Innovate Ag to fast track the development of Sero-X® for cotton and other crops and support continued collaboration with Australia’s research institutions.
Bi-PA will develop and register the product outside Australia and New Zealand.
“Bi-Pa’s investment means Innovate Ag will continue to be majority Australian owned but allows us to bring Australian innovation to international markets much faster than Innovate Ag would have been able to achieve alone,” Mr Watts said.
