Insecticide Curbix 200 SC (Ethiprole) manufactured by Bayer was launched in Brazil for the control of the Coffee Borer (Hypothenemus hampei).
The recommendation for the inclusion of the product, made by Bayer, was published in the Official Union Gazette of January 13 through the Act No. 4 of the Department of Enforcement of Agricultural Inputs of the Secretariat of Agricultural Defense of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
Curbix 200 SC, an insecticide of contact in the group Phenypirazole, was already registered in Brazil for the control of termites and the spittlebug on sugarcane and the rootworm (Oryzophagus oryzae). It is an active ingredient that differs from the products currently used for the control of the Coffee Borer, such as Cyantraniliprole and Chlorantraniliprole + Abamectin.
According to the National Council of Coffee it is an “important achievement because it would enhance the management of resistance of insects on coffee activity”. The entity was one of the major defenders of approval of Ethiprole, and managed to put Curbix 200 SC in the list of priority products for registration.
