China’s pesticide export falls for two consecutive years

As introduced by the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture of China (ICAMA), during the first ten months of 2016, China exported 1.1 million tonnes (actual weight) of pesticides that valued USD4.5 billion, which dropped by 15.0% and 27.0% year on year respectively.
Besides, As shown in data Zhang Wenjun, the Head of the International Communication and Service Department of the ICAMA, in 2015, China exported 1.5 million tonnes of pesticides with the value of USD7.3 billion, down by 8.1% and 16.9% over 2014.
On the meeting, the Vice Head of the ICAMA, Yan Duanxiang, pointed out that the economic growth in Europe, the US and Japan, three large economies in the world, has been slowing down, exerting large effect on the global export. At the same time, the competition on the international market has been worsening, illegal international trade of pesticides runs wide and pesticide policy adjustment lags behind, resulting in weak export.

In addition, China’s pesticide import also witnessed decline for two consecutive years. During Jan.-Oct. 2016, China imported 32,800 tonnes of pesticides with the value of USD371 million, which fell by 35.3% and 37.0% year on year respectively. In 2015, the volume and value were 58,000 tonnes and USD680 million, decreasing by 14.2% and 8.9% over 2014.
