Pyrethroids of Yangnong Chemical winning China Industry’s “Oscar”

ChinaOn the 11th December, Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical was awarded a China Industry Award for its “green efficient pyrethroids development and application program”. The prize is praised as an Oscar award in Chinese industry award.
Pyrethroids are super-efficient and low-toxic novel insecticides, which are both for agriculture and public health. Due to its high-tech entry level restraint, the product has been for long under the control of multinationals until Yangnong Chemical launched its proprietary 3rd generation meperfluthrin in 2007 ending China’s reliance on import of pyrethroids for long years. Hence Yangnong has become the only Chinese manufacturer of this product, covering production of basic material and key intermediate, attributable to its command of several pyrethroids-related key technologies.
So far, Yangnong has solved a number of pyrethroids-related technologies and has successfully developed more than 50 novel pyrethroid products, 20 of which fill up the home and abroad market gap, and 11 of which are affirmed to be national key new products. Totally 106 patents have been filed home and abroad, having obtained authorizations in US, Japan, India and Singapore. The quality Yangnong Chemical pyrethroids has all reached advanced international level. Among the globally issued 14 international pyrethroid products standards, the products of Yangnong Chemical have adopted 100% as equivalent.
The pyrethroid products of Yangnong Chemical account for respectively 70% and 50% of the total of Chinese market and world market. At present, Yangnong Chemical has grown to be the world’s largest pyrethroids manufacturer. According to Jiang Youfa, a deputy general manage in charge of R&D, said Yangnong Chemical achieved $10 million worth export to Japan this year. The annual sales of meperfluthrin reached Yuan 200 million, which is China’s first single product to reach above Yuan 100 million sales. Meperfluthrin is also the highest sales product among China’s innovated novel pesticides.
Zhou Qikui, the general manager of Yangnong Chemical said that coming up next the research into outdoor sanitary product will be the company’s new direction of research and development.
