“We have worked hard to evolve our agronomic solutions and training to our customers and our distribution system,” said the head of the Monsanto’s Management of Products and Crop Protection for Latin America, Marcelo Segalla, in an interview to Portal Global Agrochemicals.
He was speaking about the new product on the company’s portfolio and the marketing of pesticides in Brazil.
Segella spoke about the Roundup Ready Plus System – a set of tools elaborated by Monsanto in partnership with several experts in Brazil. The solution offered tips on weed management through virtual consultancy to the producer free of cost.
“The farmer can evaluate how to use the products he has purchased in a proficient manner for his crop. He can also work on the planning of the crop and evaluate the risk of resistance of weeds to glyphosate in the crop. Through the website Roundup Ready Plus (
http://www.rrplus.com.br), the user can undertake online courses and obtain an initial diagnosis of resistance risk on his farm or lot,” he explained.
Speaking on the stiff competition that is faced by the supply of the glyphosate herbicide in Brazil, the chemical production engineer affirmed that the strategy of the company was to act on three fronts – “confidence, tradition and performance of products”.
“In order to strengthen the Roundup brand even more and attend to expectations of our customers, besides the annual marketing and communication meetings, we follow-up with intense research and development activity, for other molecules (as in the example of Dicamba) as well as for the new formulations based on glyphosate,” Segalla pointed out.
“Currently, we are working in an advanced scenario with new candidates based on the current agronomic necessities and the future of our farmers with the evolution of weed resistance, besides the perspectives regarding application technologies, handling, storage and disposal of packages. These points are present in our portfolio management procedures,” he said in conclusion.
