Researchers from Argentina’s National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) have come up with the first Argentinean rapeseed variety.
The cultivar, called “Macacha INTA,” has a high yield potential, offers good industrial quality and is strongly resistant to diseases.
Argentinean researchers from INTA Paraná, Entre Ríos, said the new variety can be adapted for various agro-ecological regions, and can potentially be incorporated in various production schemes.
Being an oleaginous crop that is grown during spring-winter, it is beneficial for both, the producer as well as the oil industry. They explained that summer crops form the base of country’s oil production sector and give the producer the option to access the market at a certain time of the year while the supply to the industry can happen during idle months.
