EAS appoints Andrew Wells as Managing Director

Eurofins Agroscience Services recently announced that Andrew Wells will join the Group as Managing Director, Eurofins Agroscience Services Pty Ltd in February 2017. This is part of the ongoing Group commitment to strengthen the Agroscience management team globally.

Friedrich Knecht, COO, said of the appointment: "I am pleased to announce that Andrew Wells will join Eurofins Agroscience Services Group on Feb 1st 2017. He assumes his role as MD of Eurofins Agroscience Services Pty Ltd with responsibility for the Field Services in Australia and New Zealand including Eurofins SCEC Pty Ltd. With Andrew taking on this pivotal role in the team, we will reinforce our leadership team and further expand our capabilities and capacities in  Australia/New Zealand”.

Andrew graduated from La Trobe University with a Degree in Agricultural Science in 1988. He has had a distinguished career of over 27 years with Nufarm Ltd, a global crop protection company.

During this time, he has held and managed several important areas within the business covering various commercial and research & development roles. Having initially started in Field Development based in Melbourne, then taking up a Business Development role in the USA, working throughout North and South America. Then relocated back to the Australian global headquarters as Global Business Manager of phenoxy herbicides.

For the last 15 years, Andrew has led the Australian and New Zealand R&D Teams and has been
instrumental in the launch of a range of new technologies in crop protection and biotechnology. He has been directly involved in and initiated industry programs around spray drift management, herbicide resistance and minor use of agricultural chemicals.

He is passionate with a track record of creating a high performance culture in the teams and people he leads.

The appointment comes as part of a global succession planning program. The Australia/New Zealand region is currently managed by Martin Collett, a well-known industry professional with 40 years of  experience and current MD of Eurofins Agroscience Services Pty Ltd.  Martin was appointed MD of Agrisearch Services Pty Ltd in November 2000.  Over the next 13 years, he built up the business from 25 to more than 80 personnel covering key agricultural regions of Australia/New Zealand.  Agrisearch Services Pty Ltd was acquired by Eurofins in 2013 to allow Eurofins to accelerate its build-up in Asia Pacific.  The move reflects an ongoing commitment to further strengthen the local footprint in the region and the global Agroscience services offering.

Martin will continue to support Andrew during his transition to the new role.
