Dec. 7, 2016
Every year in February the international organic sector is gathering at the BioFach trade fair, world’s largest organic fair. Also in 2017 Bejo will participate at the Nordrhein-Westfalen stand at Hall 7-255 from 15th to 18th February 2017.
ORGANIC - RIGHT from the START
Sustainable cultivation with a high yield, exceptional product quality and – ultimately – healthy and tasty food; it all starts with the best seeds of the best varieties. Right from the start. For more than 100 years, Bejo’s core business has been vegetable seeds. In the 1960s, Bejo was one of the pioneers in modern crop breeding. In the 1990s, Bejo was among the first breeders to take the step to make organic an integral part of her business. The result is a wonderful cross-fertilization. On the one hand, organic production brings on inspiration and new ideas for conventional production. On the other hand, Bejo bases her organic business on the knowledge, experience and infrastructure that she has built in the last century. Bejo has access to a broad genetic base and to the latest technologies for natural breeding. She uses these for the development of varieties with a high yield and an improved resilience, for the production of high-quality seeds and for other innovations.
Improved availability of the organic assortment in 2017
The organic assortment continuous to grow. In 2016 Bejo introduced eight organic varieties to the market. Currently, the organic program offers more than 150 varieties distributed over 40 crops. Bejo’s organic assortment now offers a wider choice of varieties for different seasons and purposes. At Biofach 2017 Bejo will introduce white cabbage Passat and celery variety Conga. Ofcourse the highly resistant yellow onion Hylander will be presented at the stand and the known celeriac varieties Balena and Rowena are available again the coming season. By continuously improving her organic assortment Bejo feels confident that more and more organic farmers will use organic seed, right from the start.
