According to data released by the Brazilian Association of the Chemical Industry (Abiquim), Brazil has imported US$ 3.3 billion of chemical products in September. The result represents a fall of 8.4% comparing to the previous month, besides a reduction of 0.5% in comparison to September of 2015.
The most imported chemical products were the “intermediary for fertilizers”, which summed US$ 491 million last month. The external purchases of chemical products totaled US$ 25.8 billion accumulated in the first nine months of the year, a reduction of 11.5% comparing to the same period of 2015.
However, if just the imported volumes are considered, there was an increase of 11.5% in the total sum of 2016 with 27.6 million tons. “The imported volumes are still high and, the perspectives of the sector trade balance until the end of the year should be related to national macroeconomic factors and the international price indicators of the main products of the Brazilian imports of chemical products, highlights the director of foreign trade subject of Abiquim, Denise Mazzaro Naranjo.
