FMC Agricultural Solutions has launched the insecticide Capture 400 EC to control true bugs (Thaumastocoris peregrinus) and gall wasps on eucalyptus (Leptocybe invasa) in Brazil.
According to the manufacturers, the product has "a rapid control mechanism that minimizes the loss of lumber. Its extended action controls the re-entry of the pests into the forest and it possesses application flexibility that allows it to be used both in a vivarium and in the field.”
Capture 400 EC is classified as a third-generation acaricide composed of a new molecule, which follows safety regulations for use and conforms to guidelines. It is the first product registered in Brazil for the control of true bugs on eucalyptus.
"The insecticide is highly efficient in the effective control of true bugs and gall wasps in eucalyptus. It is applied at a minimal dose per hectare to produce high operational yields and ensure faster application and is also economical for the producer,” stated the manager of Accounts & Forest Development of FMC, Fábio Marques.
He explained that these plagues are hard to identify due to the length of the plant and the aerial application contributes to its effective control. “We want to make it a convenient method for the producer to improve the yield.”
