Pace International LLC announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (CDPR) have approved its application for BioSpectra™ 100SC, for postharvest applications in citrus and stone fruit.
This technology, while new to the postharvest fruit industry, has been successfully utilized for food preservation worldwide for over 40 years and is approved as a food additive by the European Union, the World Health Organization and individual countries for use as a fungal biocontrol product.
“BioSpectra 100SC is the first natural anti-fungal agent for the postharvest industry in the past 20 years and has shown very strong performance against a broad spectrum of postharvest fruit decays, particularly Green Mold, Blue Mold, Gray Mold, Sour Rot, Brown Rot and Mucor Rot.” said Rodrigo Cifuentes, VP Marketing and Business Development for Pace International.
The addition of BioSpectra 100SC to the company’s portfolio of decay control solutions is another milestone on the innovative path that the company is recognized for in the postharvest world. “We take great pride in our ability to bring novel and high-value solutions to our customers and the fruit packing industry as we set our efforts in sustainably controlling decay, and therefore reducing overall food waste” added Cifuentes.
