Chinese invention patent granted to Tide Group’s picoxystrobin

The research team of Tide Group has successfully developed a picoxystrobin production process after a 5-year-long effort. The process is now being applied to industrialized production.

Picoxystrobin is a strobilurin product with the strongest systemic and evaporation activity. The company had previously filed for an invention patent, which was recently granted. The process ensures lower production costs, reduced waste discharge, and easy and safe handling. The grant of the patent paves the way for Tide Group to promote its product on the high-end market worldwide, supported by its improved competitiveness.

After being applied, the product's active ingredient is effectively redistributed and fully passed on, so picoxystrobin has a better curative activity than the commercialized azoxystrobin or trifloxystrobin. In recent years, DuPont has obtained registrations in the United States, Canada, Europe, and China, mainly for the control of diseases in corn, soybeans, wheat, and rapeseed. These diseases include the A. brassicae, which causes autochthonic and seed-borne blackleg in rapeseed and mustard seeds; Alternaria; Fusarium spp.; and Rhizoctonia solani, which causes damping off, seedling blight, seed rot, and root rot in rapeseed, mustard seeds, corn, and soybeans. Later, the use of the product will be extended to high value-added fruits and vegetables for the control of tomato gray mold, cucumber gray mold, downy mildew, pepper anthrax, grape downy mildew, blackpox disease, watermelon stem blight, anthrax, banana leaf spot, scabs, and jujube rust.

The registration of picoxystrobin in China is underway, supported by the five batches reports issued by the European Union's GLP. Tide Group has obtained registration for the technical material in the European Union. Registration papers in Brazil have been submitted, while registration in the United States is underway as well. Tide Group is currently focusing on registrations in Brazil and Europe, which will be followed by market promotions. In addition, the development of a new mixture formulation has been placed on the agenda and will soon commence.

It is said that Tide Group’s subsidiary, Zhejiang Tide Crop Science Ltd, has been working hard on the research for the last five years. The company has so far filed for more than 30 patents, eight of which have been granted. Board Chairman Yang said, “Based on patented technologies, Tide will establish a long-lasting innovative mechanism to promote innovation in the production process, formulation development, and business model.
