Myanmar Fruit and Vegetable Association visiting Chengdu New Sun Crop Science

On the 12th September, members of the Myanmar Fruit and Vegetable Association, along with with 3 prime fruit farm owners, visited Chengdu New Sun Crop Science, as led by Chairman Soe Than Min Din, Secretary General Sandar Myo and Kyaw Thu of the association. During their visit, the group sought to learn about the crop protection-oriented “8s Good Farming Practice” being used by Chengdu New Sun Crop Science.

The leaders of the association had the opportunity to see how the “8s Good Farming Practice” is used in the growing of kiwi fruit in Chengdu and Pujiang County of Sichuan province, as well as the fruit sorting, quality inspection and cold chain system of Chengdu New Sun Crop Science. The members of the association also visited the newly established plant protection inputs production base in Chengdu, which is manufacturing biopesticide, bioinsecticide, biofungicide, organic fertilizer, high-efficient environment-friendly liquid fertilizer and crop nutrients. The production base is the world’s largest natural brassica agent production location.

Chairman Soe Than Min Din noted that they were surprised by the plant protection inputs and the “8s Good Farming Practice” developed by New Sun Crop Science, noting that they hoped New Sun Crop Science can help farmers in Myanmar to quickly improve their fruit and vegetable quality so they might elevate their product standards for exports.

While visiting the plant protection inputs production base, Soe Than Min Din and other visitors showed great interest in the improved quality and yield of fruits and vegetables, due to the use of botanic growth regulators (natural brassica agent). It is said that Myanmar’s local fruits and vegetables are of lower yield and quality, resulting in their remaining below the standards needed when exporting. Additionally, pesticides used in Myanmar are often outdated, which leaves higher residues. Myanmar hopes to introduce the botanic pesticide series of New Sun Crop Science, which will help reduce pesticide residues to a level for export to Europe, China, Korea and Japan.
The visitors noted that no facilities in Myanmar are able to perform soil analysis locally, and the use rate of fertilizer is low, which results in severe soil problems. However, officials are hoping to use the soil testing lab of New Sun Crop Science to help them with soil testing and formulated fertilization,  or they might increase the fertilizer use rate and decrease farmer’s costs of fertilization.
