In Argentina, Syngenta has announced the launch of two new herbicides: Acuron Pack (Acuron Uno + Dual Gold), for application on corn, and Flexstar GT – for the control of Palmer’s pigweed ( Amaranthus spp) on soybeans. The new products were released during the XI Symposium of Corn and Soybeans in Córdoba, a meeting that sees farmers and experts coming together to exchange ideas.
Acuron Pack is a combination of Bicyclopyrone and S-metolachlor, used on wide leaves and grass in the control of a wide spectrum of weeds. Bicychlopyrone is a molecule herbicide of the group HPPD that inhibits the synthesis of carotenoid pigments. The product can be applied on the surface or on variable tracks, according to the protected crop, and concentrated over the seedling line.
Flexstar GT is a post-emergent herbicide for the control of Palmer’s pigweed on glyphosate-resistant soybeans. The product combines the actions of the active principles formesafen, which inhibits the polyphenol enzyme, and glyphosate. Syngenta contains the technology Isolink II, an adjuvant system projected for optimizing the systemic activity of glyphosate and the action contact of fomesafen.
According to the manufacturer, these new herbicides are part of the “commitment assumed by Syngenta to improve the existing formulations with the goal of avoiding increases in resistance. Achieving that allows corn and soybeans to be free of competing [for nutrients and water], which is a key for farmer to produce more and better”.
