Green substances and plant protection products are much more widely available in the USA than in Europe. Now, following talks with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Dutch Board for the Authorisation of Plant Protection Products and Biocides (Ctgb) has decided to simplify their authorisation. The Ctgb and EPA are working together to make optimum use of the original dossier as submitted to EPA, for assessment and authorisation in Europe. In other words, EPA and Ctgb are building a bridge for green products between Europe and the USA.
There are more green substances and products available in the USA compared with in Europe. Until now, the dossier for authorisation in the USA was not considered valid for authorisation in Europe and applicants were required to submit a completely new dossier. Now, if requested by the applicant, the Ctgb will assess the American dossier as part of the assessment procedure for Europe. The Ctgb and the applicant may make a joint analysis of the EPA dossier prior to application to provide a better idea of the outcome of the assessment procedure in Europe. This will make it easier to determine the parts of the dossier that require further detail. Applicants may request a meeting with the Ctgb to discuss this; please note that an analysis fee applies.
Applicants may contact the Ctgb service desk for more information, email:servicedesk@ctgb.nl, tel.+31 (0)317 471899.
