AgroFresh Solutions, Inc. recently announced that it has received approval in Israel for Harvista 1.3 SC. AgroFresh is now able to help apple growers in Israel obtain better crop quality, reduce loss, and improve yield margins within their operations through the application of its pre-harvest product, Harvista. The Harvista technology,1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP), prevents ethylene recognition which slows the ripening process in order to maintain superior fruit quality and improve value from harvest to storage.
Harvista gives our growers a competitive edge by helping them deliver high-quality fruit. With advanced pre-harvest Harvista technology in their orchard management program, growers enjoy achieving optimal coloring and size, and can pick fruit at peak quality to elicit greater revenue and a more profitable operation.
"This is an exciting market for us to enter with Harvista and it is a contributing factor in the AgroFresh growth strategy," said Mark Hooper, Global Brand Lead for AgroFresh. "Growers in Israel will benefit especially from better quality apples at harvest to complement the maintenance of quality during storage with the SmartFreshSM Quality System. The apple consumers will definitely appreciate the improved quality while our growers enjoy higher returns."
As Harvista launches into the Israeli market, AgroFresh is limiting the roll-out to targeted hectares for 2016 and is planning for continued targeted expansion for 2017. AgroFresh is collaborating with Rimi Chemicals Co. LTD., located in Petah Tikva, Israel. In addition to assisting with application options, Rimi Chemicals Co. representatives will work with customers to evaluate fruit maturity, block by block, and variety by variety, to determine the best time to apply Harvista for optimal results.
