Wilbur-Ellis Company recently consolidated part of its Central Texas operations into the new Lone Star Distribution Center located in Rosebud. This newly renamed Wilbur-Ellis distribution center will offer crop protection, seed, fertilizer and field technology services.

"Merging three of our Central Texas branches will only have a positive impact on our customers and the service they receive," said Wilbur-Ellis' Vice President of Central Geography Troy Johnson. "Consolidated purchasing and a centralized dispatch means our customers will have the right products for the job exactly when they need them. And, by cutting down on some of our business' redundancies, our staff will have more time to spend with our customers in the field and focus on their issues."

Wilbur-Ellis will invest nearly $1.5 million to improve and update the Lone Star Distribution Center. These improvements include implementing satellite tracking capabilities on all Wilbur-Ellis delivery vehicles, a technological advance that will help ensure efficient and timely service across the region. Renovation of existing storage facilities and office space, as well as the expansion of warehouse space on the property, will allow the facility to serve a larger area.

"This seemingly small improvement to our trucks will allow us to run at a higher capacity and create efficiencies which, in turn, enable us to better serve the market," said Walter Esser, a Wilbur-Ellis area manager. "Any investment in our business is really an investment in our customers."

Wilbur-Ellis will not renew the leases at its Leroy and Georgetown, Texas, locations and will move all equipment and most existing staff to the freshly renamed Wilbur-Ellis Lone Star Distribution Center by August 2016. Wilbur-Ellis will also consolidate the Hearne, Texas, retail location into the Lone Star Distribution Center, while the Hearne liquid terminal will continue business as usual at its current location.
