Recently, the Chinese State Council issued the Soil Pollution Control Action Plan---another action plan from the Chinese government aimed at cleaning up the air, water sources, and soil.
The Soil Pollution Control Action Plan targets getting the nationwide aggravated soil contamination problem under control with generally stable soil quality by 2020. By the middle of this century, soil quality is expected to be high enough to achieve positive cycling in the ecosystem.
It is anticipated that the safe-use ratio of contaminated cultivated land will reach nearly 90% by 2020, increasing to 95% by 2030, while the safe-use ratio of contaminated land blocks will exceed 90% by 2020 and will exceed 95% by 2030.
The adoption of the Soil Pollution Control Action Plan is an important step by the Chinese government in fighting pollution. To this end, all three pollution control plans have been set in motion to tackle air pollution, water pollution, and soil pollution.
