Multinational chemical company BASF has introduced the methodology called Sustainable Solution Steering that has classified over 60,000 of its products in four categories according to levels of contribution to sustainability.
The company has made at the Sustainable Brands event, which aims to push for brand sustainability in the IESE School of Business in Barcelona, BASF announced on Monday in a statement.
According to the results released, about 27% of the BASF products contribute to sustainability in all of the chain value, while 70% just follow the standards of sustainability in the markets.
The director of Communication and Advocacy of BASF Spain, Peter Gräve, has analyzed how the company guides the necessities of customers in terms of sustainability and has highlighted that it allows to generate synergies to achieve new solutions and products that respond to the challenges.
The BASF Group in Spain reached sales of € $ 1.15 billion in 2015, which recorded a 3% decline comparing to the previous year mostly due to the fall of commodity prices and technical shutdown of plant, which have influenced the services.
Under the concept of ‘How Now’ (how to apply sustainability now), Sustainable Brands Barcelona celebrated on last Monday and Tuesday the second edition in the Catalan city with over 40 national and international experts.
