Compass Minerals has hired plant nutrition industry veteran Vatren Jurin to steer the company’s portfolio expansion into specialty liquid micronutrient products for agriculture.
The new senior product manager of liquid micronutrients for Compass Minerals has more than 25 years of experience in the agricultural industry, most recently with Brandt Consolidated. Jurin will be responsible for the development and growth of the company’s liquid micronutrient business globally.
“Jurin has an extensive background in foliar plant nutrition, micronutrients, biostimulants and soil chemistry/biology,” said Will Hill, vice president of micronutrients for Compass Minerals. “This background, in addition to his experience in product development, sales and marketing, makes him uniquely positioned to lead our company’s future in the liquid market.”
New Territory For The Company, And For Liquid Micronutrients
With a mission to be the best essential minerals provider, Compass Minerals is committed to building a specialized liquid product line farmers can apply in multiple ways. The company is working toward building a line that can be applied throughout the season to enhance plant health and the genetic potential of crops.
Jurin notes how the company defines liquid products is important. “Water or some other liquid will be the delivery system, not necessarily the product,” explains Jurin. “What we develop for liquids will complement the innovative Wolf Trax DDP Nutrients designed for dry fertilizer delivery systems.”
“Compass Minerals is equipped with analytical labs, chemists, and a multinational agronomic research and development team. With the recent acquisition of a 35% stake in Produquimica, we are adding a partner with deep experience in manufacturing and development of water soluble and liquid technologies,” Jurin continues. “With the right resources in place, we are going to provide new, sustainable nutrient technologies to complement farmers’ good agronomic practices.”
