DuPont’s insecticide Rynaxypyr registered in Japan

A slate of new insecticide products containing US company DuPont’s Rynaxypyr, whose active ingredient is chlorantraniliprole, was approved September 28 for pesticide registration in Japan.

Agro-Kanesho Co., Syngenta Japan, Nissan Chemical Industries, Hokko Chemical Industry, Maruwa Biochemical and Mitsui Chemicals--1.htm">Mitsui Chemicals Agro will be making and distributing the products in Japan, under the trademarks of Samcor to treat fruit trees and Prevathon to treat vegetables and tea leaves, using active-ingredient materials supplied by DuPont.

Rynaxypyr is in the anthranilic-diamide class of insecticides, with a new action mechanism of working on the calcium channels of the muscle cells of insects to cause muscle contraction. Among its many advantages are strong broad-spectrum activity against harmful pests, including Lepidoptera; high safety; and high residual efficacy.

DuPont regards Rynaxypyr as a product with vast potential for market growth and is promoting the insecticide worldwide. It is anticipated to become the highest profit maker in the company’s history of proprietary chemical compounds.
