The global consultancy company, ERM, has acquired the UK-based regulatory consultancy firm JSC International. Based in Harrogate, UK, JSC employs 30 and provides independent regulatory and risk assessment advice in the area of agrochemicals, biocides and general chemical legislation.
ERM said that the buy will broaden its services in the chemical sector “by adding deeper technical expertise in agrochemicals and biocides to the registration and authorisation process management services” it already offers, while more generally adding to its product safety and stewardship capabilities. JSC’s services include data gap analysis, study monitoring, preparation and submission of dossiers and post-submission support.
JSC dates back to 1992 and was bought by managing director Lucy Croucher in 2004. Since then, staff numbers had almost doubled. Writing in the firm’s client newsletter, Croucher said: “ERM is a great fit for JSC, allowing us to remain as a separate business unit; this means that the same team will continue to provide the same excellent service you have come to expect from us.”
ERM had previously, in March 2015, acquired REACH registration services firm ReachCentrum from CEFIC. It has over 150 offices in 40 countries and territories, employing about 5,000 people. As well as chemicals, it is active in the oil & gas, mining and power sectors.
