UPL Limited: Solution to Fungicide Resistance Management

Under the Chinese agricultural situation, citrus crop dynamics in terms of planted area and management level are being changed dramatically. Disease control, has become one of the main aspect of citrus management, from the preparation of copper, sulfur preparations to benzimidazole, sterols, and even QOI and HDI category, protective and therapeutic, in a variety of fungicides, widely applied to control citrus disease. Fungi resistant to fungicides, owning to unreasonable and unscientific application of fungicides, causes issues in citrus management.
UPL organized a citrus scientific discussion and Citrus Training Forum in Guilin, Guangxi on March 28, which is a significant citrus planted regions, over 200 farmers, scientists, relevant experts and partner gather to discuss regarding citrus crop protection management. Fungicide resistance management by UPL China proposal was a major highlight of this forum. UPL impressed the dangers of fungicide resistance due to indiscriminate use of fungicides. UPL is world’s largest producer of mancozeb which is the key fungicide for resistance management owing to its multi-site action model. The forum agreed that mancozeb is the ideal partner as tank mix or premix with various fungicides to prevent resistance against of these partner fungicides.
UPL has a leading position in China market on mancozeb and mancozeb based products and is actively leading the discussions on disease management in various crops in various parts of China.
