The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority(APVMA) has approved Bayer CropScience's herbicide, Specticle (indaziflam 200g/L), for the pre-emergent control of summer grass, crowsfoot grass and winter grass in turf on golf course fairways.
Indaziflam ,one of the most recent herbicides to be introduced by Bayer, is sold as Specticle for use on turf and as Alion for use on perennial crops such as citrus, tree nut, vines, pome and stone fruits. The product is active via the inhibition of cellulose biosynthesis on meristematic cell growth and can be applied either pre-emergence on its own, or post-emergence in conjunction with other herbicides. As well as crop use, the product is also used in industrial vegetation management in the USA. This was expanded to Canada in 2014. Indaziflam first received approvals in the USA and Chile in 2010.
