Plant Products and Phyllom BioProducts are teaming up to launch grubGONE!® and beetleGONE!® in Canada. The products are being submitted for Canadian registration in 2016, with an anticipated product launch in 2017.
Across Canada grubs and beetles feed on roots and foliage of plants. Then Raccoons and skunks cause damage to lawns and sports fields by digging up the white larvae. In 2009, the Province of Ontario implemented a ban on the use of commonly used lawn care products. Other Provinces soon followed Ontario’s lead. However, Ontario allows certain types of products (Class 11 ) which are considered of low risk to humans and the environment. Phyllom and Plant Products anticipate that grubGONE! and beetleGONE! will meet the Class 11 criteria and have no harmful effects on pollinators; providing a badly needed solution for the professional turf and ornamental manager. In fact, Ag Canada and Ontario have encouraged Phyllom to seek a Canadian registration.
These insect control technologies already have regulatory approval in the USA for the following:
grubGONE!: Control of turf and ornamental grubs and annual bluegrass weevil*
beetleGONE!: Control of Japanese beetles* on roses
“Plant Products is excited about these products. They are easy to apply, have good shelf life, are biorational and show good control for key pests” says Kelly Devaere Product and Marketing Manager at Plant Products. He continued “We are also excited to partner with Phyllom BioProducts as they are creating new and innovative solutions to meet the requirements of our professional customers.”
“Phyllom is pleased to be partnered with a company like Plant Products as we believe that they have the organization and technical knowhow to ensure our products become a success for turf care professionals in Canada,” said Kurt Schwartau from the Business Advisory Board of Phyllom BioProducts.
