The 10th China Pesticide Industry Development International Forum hosted by CCPIT Sub-council of Chemical Industry was held in Shanghai in 8, March. At the conference, Zhang Wenjun, the director of ICAMA international communication and service department released the data of China pesticide import & export situation in 2015. According to him, China has experienced for the first time in 5 years the rundown of both pesticide import and export, of which export volume and value decreased 8.06% and 16.87% to 1,509,500 tons and $ 7.283 billion respectively, import volume and value down by 14.21% and 8.88% to 57,600 tons and $ 678 million.

The top 10 pesticides ranked by export value in 2015 are: glyphosate (glyphosate-isopropylammonium included), paraquat, imidacloprid, clethodim, chlorpyrifos, atrazine, dicamba, abamectin, sulfentrazone, chlorothalonil, thiodicarb, acephate, tebuconazole, chlorantraniliprole, 2,4-D, albendazole, glufosinate-P, azoxystrobin, mancozeb, bifenthrin, emamectin, cartap, lambda-cyhalothrin, fipronil, 2,4-D methyl amine salt, propiconazole, fomesafen, picloram, haloxyfop-P-methyl, acetamiprid, with half of which recorded both going down of export volume and value. The top 30 exported pesticide totaled at $ 4.249 billion and 1,067,000 tons that accounting for 58.3% and 70.7% respectively for all the pesticide exported this year. Exported value of glyphosate, imidacloprid and atrazine dropped twice the number than that of export volume. In the case of paraquat, export value dropped significantly even the volume increased.

Pesticide export destination of China covered more than 180 countries and districts in 2015, with over 20 countries’ export value surpassed $ 100 million, amounted 1,011,000 tons and $ 5.18 billion in volume and value, making up 67.0% and 71.1% of the total. These countries are (ranged by value): US, Brazil, Australia, Argentina, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Israel, Russia, Nigeria, Columbia, South Africa, Japan, France, Turkey, Belgium, Singapore, Mexico, Uruguay, and Paraguay. Export value of 19 countries suffered negative growth expect for Australia, Russia, France, Belgium and Mexico. The volume and value of pesticide exported to US and Brazil recorded 236,000 tons and $ 1.6 billion respectively, accounting for 15.9% and 21.9% of all the pesticide exported overseas from China.

For 5 years, pesticide import volume and value keep between 50,000 and 70,000 tons and $ 500-750 million with the first 3 years grew rather rapidly while the later 2 years slowed down and in 2015 dropped to negative growth.
