Alta Seeds, the premium seed brand of Advanta Seeds, achieves industry-leading yields as shown in 2015 grain sorghum trial data from universities across the High Plains.
Alta Seeds hybrids performed in versatile and variable conditions consistently finishing in the top three, with numerous first place winners. Trials were performed by third party researchers at Kansas State University, Oklahoma State University and Texas AgriLife Extension. Results are organized by total yield in bushels per acre.
Among the elite performers was Alta Seeds AG1203, a medium-early bronze grain sorghum with strong standability and sugarcane aphid tolerance. This hybrid delivered outstanding yield for maturity in a variety of growing conditions, ranking first out of 16 in Parsons, Kan. and second place at a dryland trial in Garden City, Kan.
AG3101 placed first in both Belleville, Kan. and Hereford, Texas, recording yields above 140 bushels per acre in both trials. This medium-late red grain hybrid repeatedly placed in the top three at irrigated and dryland trials in both Kansas and Texas.
AG3201 achieved trial-topping performance in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. The medium-late bronze hybrid with downy mildew resistance placed first out of 37 in Apache, Okla. It was also the number one hybrid in Goodwell, Okla., recording a yield of 130.8 bushels per acre.
“The new trial data shows growers Alta Seeds hybrids are adaptable to achieve industry-leading performance in variable conditions,” says Barry Lubbers, Alta Seeds director of sales. “Not only do these hybrids produce top yield results, they also feature traits that stand up to diseases, pests and drought conditions sorghum growers experience year after year.”
AG1301, AG1401, AG2103 and AG2015 also displayed superior performance with impressive yields in 2015 comparison tests.
