Helicovex®, a Helicoverpa armigera nucleopolyhedrovirus (HearNPV), manufactured by Andermatt Biocontrol, obtained approval in Spain in February 2016.
Registration got granted to control African cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera). The company Agrichem Bio S.A., located in Madrid, will distribute the product in Spain. Applications of that specific insecticide are granted on a wide range of different crops, including tomato, beans, corn, sweet corn, melon, and lettuce.
The use of Helicovex provides excellent control of African cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera), leaving zero residues and being absolutely harmless to non-target organisms. Helicovex has already obtained approval in Australia, Brazil (brand name Verpavex®), Bulgaria, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Namibia, Russia, South Africa (brand name Bolldex®), Switzerland, Tunisia, Ukraine and USA.
