The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) determined the prohibition of the use of Prochloraz fungicide, a present active ingredient sold in Brazil. According to the agency, the decision was motivated by the toxicological reevaluation of the product, which did not attend the guidelines and safety requirements.
It was established also for the companies that have stocks of products based on the fungicide that they should arrange its adequate destination at the Ministry of Agriculture, to Anvisa and the Brazilian Institute of Natural Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) following a deadline of up to 30 days.
The monograph of the fungicide will be valid until the end of 2017, only for the ends of the monitoring of the presence of the residual of Prochloraz on food. The table below presents the products that contain this active ingredient in their formulations in Brazil:
