Italy company Endura has agreed to market the environmentally friendly insecticide natural pyrethrum extract of the Rwandan firm Horizon Sopyrwa via its global commercial network. Terms were not disclosed.
The two parties said that natural pyrethrum extract has been used over many decades as an active ingredient in formulations for household, public health and agricultural applications, with many using PBO as a synergist.
Endura has been developing, manufacturing and selling active ingredients and synergists for household and public health insecticides for over 50 years. By far, it is the largest producer world over of the well-known synergist, Piperonyl Butoxide (PBO).In recent years, Endura has added a new range of synthetic pyrethroids for Household and professional applications to the existing production of Tetramethrin.
Horizon Sopyrwa is a private company that engages in the production, processing and marketing of pyrethrum; a natural botanical insecticide derived from the chrysanthemum flower.Horizon Sopyrwa was established in 2008 as a subsidiary of Horizon Group.
Pyrethrum is a botanical insecticide produced primarily in the flowers of Tanacetum cinerariaefolium, a species of the chrysanthemum plant family. Pyrethrum plants have historically been grown in commercial quantities in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Papua New Guinea. More recently, Tasmania and Uganda began producing pyrethrum.
