Sales of Sumitomo Chemical’s Health & Crop Sciences section sales increased by ¥9.7 billion from the same period of the previous fiscal year, to ¥228.4 billion ($1,893.7million at the current rate) for the nine months of 2015 ended December 31, due to the positive effect of the weaker yen. Sales of the feed additive methionine rose sharply due to higher market prices. Operating income grew by ¥18.3 billion, to ¥40.9 billion ($339.1 million at the current rate).
Health & Crop Sciences segment includes crop protection chemicals, fertilizers, feed additives, household and public hygiene insecticides, and active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates.
