Syngenta obtains registration extension of Polo 500 SC for whitefly in Brazilqrcode

Syngenta announced last Friday (12.18) that it has obtained the extension of the registration of its insecticide Polo 500 SC for the control of the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci B) on soybeans. The product is recommended by the company to combat the major plagues of the oilseed, including mites, “mainly due to its fumigation effect, which is powered by the sunlight”.

The Polo has as an active ingredient the diafenthiuron (besides the phenylthiourea), which are inhibitors of the acetylcholinesterase. The mode of action is through contact, ingestion and fumigation, with the mechanism of action the inhibition of mitochondrial respiration and immediate stop of respiration and reproduction.

The Syngenta product has recommendation for the use on whitefly (Bemisia tabaci B) and the Grean Peach Acid (Myzus persicae) on potatoes. The spider mite (Tetranychus urticae) on aubergine and rose; Green Peach Acid on cucumbers.
