Sensient Colors LLC, recently  announced the launch of a breakthrough coating system that enables seed brands to better differentiate themselves in the current competitive marketplace.

Sensient’s new SensiCoat coating system provides superior uniformity, color stability, and overall performance to the seed industry. The SensiCoat system can be customized and is available for use across a broad range of seed varieties.

By leveraging its extensive technical expertise and color manufacturing experience, Sensient was able to develop novel pigment dispersions that provide the foundation for the full SensiCoat product line. “The technical advancements delivered by SensiCoat provide the agricultural industry with numerous important benefits and was the culmination of a long R&D effort paired with significant capital investment. SensiCoat is an example of our continuing commitment to the industry,” stated Mike Geraghty, President of Sensient Colors.

Current offerings include water-based pigment dispersions including SensiCoat Red, SensiCoat Blue, and SensiCoat Green in addition to an array of customized shade options. The system is also available in a range of product forms including liquid, granular, and polymer coatings depending on individual seed producer needs.

One of the key advantages of the SensiCoat system is enhanced dust control and flow-ability. “By combining color with additional enhancements, our technical team was able to create solutions that promote a uniform, less dusty coating, further advancing seed flow, appearance, and performance,” said Mark Ellsworth, Technical Director of Industrial Colors at Sensient.

SensiCoat includes solutions for many seed varieties including row crop, vegetable seed, grass and forage, as well as botanical seeds. All are compliant with the inert ingredient regulations for Food Use required by the EPA. Additionally, SensiCoat solutions do not contain APE and are GMO-Free.
