Indian agrochemical producer Insecticides India said it is planning to set up a manufacturing plant to produce bio-products and will soon launch new products in biotechnology related to soil fertility and plant nutrition.
The company had launched its first bio-product Mycoraja last year, which marked the company's entry into the bio product segment.
Mycoraja is a mycorrhizae based biological product, which enhances the absorption of the nutrients through plant roots, and also provides drought tolerance and immunity against diseases.
"The agrochemical manufacturer now has plans for this segment and intends to launch 3-4 new products soon. IIL also plans to set up R&D facility specifically for research in bio-technology and dedicated manufacturing facility for manufacturing bio-products," the company said in a release.
Biotechnology is being used across the world for a wide range of objectives including improving agricultural productivity.
"Having established ourselves as one of India's most trusted agrochemical producer, biotechnology is an area we have only just started exploring with the introduction of Mycoraja last year.
"Bio-based products also tend to decrease the use of chemical fertilizers, and also improve the nutrient uptake that are fixed in the soil. Now, we plan to explore this segment in a major way, with 2 products likely to be launched shortly," company's MD Rajesh Aggarwal said.
