Promip, a Brazilian company from the sector of integrated plague management, has just registered with the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply a product called Stratiomip, a new biological product to control fungus belonging to the Sciaridae family. The product contains the Stratiolaelaps scimitus predator, which acts against this plague through attacks to the roots of the plant.
Stratiomip is a biological solution that aims to control these plagues, besides other insects. The application of the product is simple and fast, releasing the predators at the infested corners. Its efficiency was scientifically proven in several countries, including Brazil, in production areas of seedlings of citrus, eucalyptus, tobacco, vegetables and flowers.
The biological product is offered in packages containing 10,000 predators mixed with a material used as a vehicle for application and distribution of predators in the field. After its application, the predators start immediately to work to control the gnats funguses.
"The gnats is one plagues that causes high economic damages in several types of crops. It affects directly the roots of the plants and opens doors for the entrance of diseases. The arrival of Stratiomio to the market represents an efficient way of combat, besides becoming the products more healthy and free of damage. Stratiomip should be used right at the start of the manifestation. The earlier the predators are released, the greater the efficiency of control will be,” affirms Marcelo Poletti, the Promip CEO.
