Valent U.S.A. gets Special Local Need (SLN) label for Payload® herbicide in California

Valent U.S.A. Corporation announced that Payload® Herbicide (flumioxazin) has received a Special Local Need (SLN) label* in California for use in dewatered irrigation canals and ditches. When applied in accordance with this new label, Payload will offer professionals in industrial vegetation management (IVM) season-long control of winter annual grasses and broadleaf weeds.

Long used as a preemergence herbicide for keeping railways, roadways and utility grounds manageable and weed-free, Payload can now also be used by California irrigation districts to manage winter annual weeds in dewatered canals and ditches.

Data from university research trials demonstrated that a fall application of Payload provides residual control of tough winter weeds in dewatered irrigation canals, including Italian ryegrass.

Payload also controls kochia, pigweeds, Russian thistle and more than 100 other weeds. Best applied in the fall, Payload offers both pre- and early postemergence activity and controls weeds resistant to triazine, ALS and synthetic auxin herbicides. Its active ingredient flumioxazin allows a wide application window and low use rates.
