The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) recently announced the election of Garrett Lofto, president of the agribusiness group at J.R. Simplot Co., to serve as chairman of the Institute’s Board of Directors. In addition, the board selected Chuck Magro, president and chief executive officer of Agrium Inc., to serve as vice chairman.
Lofto has been president of the agribusiness group at J.R. Simplot Co. since 2009 and is a member of TFI’s Executive Committee. The J.R. Simplot Co. is one of the largest privately held food and agribusiness companies in the nation. Simplot pioneers innovations in plant nutrition and food processing, researches new ways to feed animals and sustain ecosystems, as it strives to feed a growing global population.
Magro is the President and CEO of Agrium Inc., a leader in the development, production, marketing and sales of fertilizer and other agricultural products and services.
“Garrett and Chuck bring keen insight on the issues facing fertilizer retailers, wholesalers and producers,” said TFI President Chris Jahn. “Their leadership will be of tremendous value to TFI as we address the significant advocacy and reputational challenges in front of us.”
