The propiconazole 41.8% EC of Chinese agrochemical enterprise Jiangsu Fengdeng is now under the registration process of the US, being expected to be approved April next year.On the 21stJanuary 2015, its propiconazole technical 95% has been registered with EPA.
As developed by Syngenta, propiconazole used to be a dominant ingredient for the use of cereal fungicide, but has faced competition of new compound with sales having declined. Nevertheless, it remains to be an important product for mixtures and furthermore a new use in non-cereal crops has been developed, which enable the product to be still one of the widely sold fungicides with an annual sales of $350 million.
The use of propiconazole in North America is manly for cereal crops, meanwhile for corn and soybean crops. The propiconazole technical registered in the US includes 99%, 96.5% and 95%. The main mixtures are azoxystrobin, with formulation type of ME, WP and SE.
Global propiconazole technical production capacity is roughly 6,000 tons, of which China accounts for 3,500 tons. Fengdeng is a prime manufacturer of propiconazole, accounting for 30% of China’s total production output. Fengdeng expressed that the registration this time will allow for its quality-secured and high cost-effective propiconazole to enter American market to provide the US end-users with a brand new choice.
